Mr. and Mrs. John and Joni Zavitsanos
John Zavitsanos has served in various leadership positions on councils and boards of the Orthodox Church on the local, diocesan, and archdiocesan levels for over 30 years. As an Archon, he currently devotes his time to protecting the Ecumenical Patriarchate and its leadership by visiting parishes around the country and bringing about awareness of our Patriarch, raising money to help fund various missions and programs, and other such acts of duty for the cause of the Archons. John is the founding partner of AZA law firm in Houston, Texas where he resides with his wife and 4 children.
Joni Zavitsanos is an artist and Sunday School teacher who has been profoundly influenced by her father, renowned Byzantine Iconographer and Archon Diamantis Cassis of blessed memory. She currently has an exhibition and tribute at the John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science entitled LIVING ICONS: A Commemoration of the Victims of Houston’s Covid-19 Pandemic, that will run through the end of 2022. In September she will have an exhibition of her modern icons alongside her father’s traditional work at Waynesburg University, where she will lecture on Byzantine Iconography at the school during the Fall semester.
