Mr. Timothy J. Joannides and Family/ Joannides Family Foundation, In Memory of Kathy Joannides
Timothy Joannides is the Chairman of the Board of Halladay Motors Inc. in Cheyenne, WY. Tim purchased Halladay Motors from Carl Halladay Jr. in 1993. Carl’s father, Carl Halladay Sr., opened the Cheyenne dealership in 1944. In March of 2020, Tim sold Halladay Motors to James D. Casey who became Halladay Motors 4th President. Halladay Motors is currently a franchise dealer for Cadillac, Buick, GMC, Nissan, and Subaru.
Tim has been in the retail automotive business for over 55 years, the last 42 in Cheyenne. He was born and raised in the Quad City area of Illinois and attended Bradley University in Peoria, IL. Tim worked for some of the top dealers in Illinois and in Arizona before moving to Cheyenne in 1983. Tim is now focusing his efforts on managing the Joannides Family Foundation and volunteering with various nonprofit organizations.
Throughout his career, Tim has been very active in his community and has received many local, state, and national automotive awards including the Oldsmobile Elite Award, GMC Truck’s Leaders of Distinction Award, the Suzuki Directors Club, and the prestigious Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award. He is a past President of the Cheyenne Automobile Dealers Association and past President for the Wyoming Automobile Dealer Association. Tim also served on the National Nissan Dealer Advisory Board. Non-automotive awards include the Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce 2003 Corporate Citizen of the Year, 2005 Person of the Year, and in 2020 he was inducted into the Circle of Champions. Tim was awarded the AHEPA National Heroes Medal in 2024.
Tim is a member and Past President of AHEPA Cowboy Chapter #211, a national Hellenic fraternal organization. After serving as Past District Governor, he then served as a Supreme Governor for three years. Tim is presently serving on the local chapter’s membership, fundraising, and veteran’s committees. He also served on the National AHEPA Educational Foundation. Tim became a member of Leadership 100 Endowment Fund in 2003 and then was inducted as an Archon into The Order of St. Andrew the Apostle by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 2005, the highest honor bestowed upon a layman of the Greek Orthodox Christian Church. He also served as a board member of the National Hellenic Society. Tim was very active in the St.’s Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Cheyenne where he helped organize and chair their Annual Greek Festival and their Planning and Future Projects Committees for over 20 years. Currently, Tim has been involved as a founding member in establishing the new Holy Apostles Orthodox Christian Church of Cheyenne in which Tim is now serving on the Board and the Fundraising Committee.
Tim also assisted in various capacities with other organizations around Wyoming such as the Cheyenne Animal Shelter Fund Raising Campaign, the local economic development Progress and Prosperity II Fundraising Drive and the United Medical Center’s Davis Hospice Capital Campaign. He has served on the LEADS Board and Executive Committee, the Air Force Association Board, Ecumenical Retreat of the Rockies Board, Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce Boards including the Chambers ATHENA Award Committee. Tim was appointed to the Wyoming Department of Transportation for six years and served as Chairman of the Commission in 2005. In 2012 he was elected and served five years on the board of the Old Baldy Club in Saratoga, Wyoming. Tim and his late wife Kathy served as co-chairs of the 2010-2013 Laramie County United Way Campaign. Tim also served on the board for 10 years, his last two as President.
Tim has four children and seven and (soon to be eight) grandchildren. His late wife Kathy passed away from ALS in 2023.
